The Boy Hero of the Confederacy's Family Farm
Just outside Smyrna, the Sam Davis Home began as a log house built in 1810 on Stewarts Creek, expanded in 1820 and again in 1847 by Charles Davis. Sam Davis, born on the family farm on October 6, 1842, served as a Confederate scout before he was captured and executed in Pulaski at age 21, earning the nickname "Boy Hero of the Confederacy"; he's buried on the family property. The State of Tennessee acquired the home in 1927 and opened it as a museum in 1930.
