One Vote From Being the County Seat
Walter Hill came within a single vote of being chosen as the Rutherford County seat instead of Murfreesboro, and the crossroads at Lebanon Road and Jefferson Pike went on to claim several county firsts anyway -- the first mill, first store, first court session, first school, and the first electrically lit street.
